Domyoji Temple

Domyoji Temple was constructed in the first half of the 7th century as a temple for the Haji clan, who were renowned for their excellent construction skills in ancient times.
The temple was originally located on the south side of where it is now. The cornerstone of the temple’s tower still remains about 100 m south of the Tenmangu Shrine.
The temple’s principal object of worship (standing figure of the Eleven-Headed Kannon) has been designated as a national treasure.
The principal object of worship is on public display on the 18th and the 25th of every month.
