Shiki Agatanushi Shrine

The name of the shrine contains the name of Shiki Agatanushi, an influential family from the Kofun Period (tumulus-building period). Listed as a prestigious shrine in the Engishiki (Japanese book about laws and customs), which was established in the early 10th century, this was a consolidated shrine of ancient Kawachi Province.
