Tomohayashi-no-Uji-Shrine

This shrine is listed as a prestigious shrine in the Engishiki (Japanese book about laws and customs), established in the early 10th century.
This is the only shrine worshiping Michi-no-omi-no-mikoto, an ancestral deity of the Otomo clan, who were in charge of military affairs.
The water pavilion for visitors to purify their hands, which is located to the left of the torii gate, was donated from Yasukuni Shrine.
