Fujiidera Temple

Constructed in the second half of the 7th century, this temple is the origin of the name of the area of Fujiidera.
Designated as a national treasure, the temple’s principal object of worship (dry lacquer seated figure of the Thousand-Armed Kannon) has 11 faces on its head and 1,000 arms. This object is on public display only on the 18th of every month.
In addition, as temple No. 5 of the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage (pilgrimage of thirty-three Buddhist temples throughout the Kansai region of Japan), the temple attracts many visitors from all over the country.
